If you are programming for the Android plattform in Eclipse and ADT you’ve probably seen various NullPointerExeptions
when editing the AndroidManifest.xml
or any other xml file from the res/
folder.
To fix this go the “Help/Check for Udates” and install the latest version of the ADT-Plugin which was 0.9.8.v201008281755-53891
by the time of writing.
Android 2.2 Froyo on HTC Touch Pro2 (Rhodium)
History:
I took the current build of
Android v2.2 Froyo: BLAZN
and updated the initrd.gz and the
rootfs.img. After changing the
keyboard-layout to “rhod100_de” by editing the “startup.txt” i was ready
to go.
Update: (2010/25/09)
Due the increased temperature i set the clock speed from ~710 MHz
back down to the default value of 528MHz
.

Sadly none of the available startup-utilities worked for me.It seems there’s
something wrong with the
Gen.Y Dualboot since
the altering of the appropriate REG-Key for the bootdirectory has no effect
for me.
Update: (2010/02/09)
It works when the value of the registry key AndroidBootFolder
is set only to
andboot
(Without quotation marks or slashes).
// string
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareGen.YDualBOOTAndroidBootFolder: "andboot"
// dword
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareGen.YDualBOOTStorageBootMode: "1"
The MJGDroidutil seems only to work properly when the complete installation is made in the root of the SD-card. Until this is fixed youl’ll have to manually start the “haret.exe”.
conclusion:
Beside this and the fact that sound is missing et all (neither input nor output)
and the Bluetooth and camera did not work in the current build it is quite usable
even if you did not overclocking your device. i’m looking forward to updates and
implementations of the missing hardware support.
Update: (2010/02/09)
I’m running Android a few days now and i’m quite satisfied with. In the meantime
there where some fixes so it’s getting better and better.
things i’m still missing:
- Microphone Input
- Bluethooth
- Camera
- Fix for the too large buttons in some setting menus
- NAND installation
Currently i have some problems to get the application “adb wireless” to work. if you have some experience or tips please leave a comment.
A New Desktop Design
v0.2 of my new desktop design made with GeekTool
During the rainy weekend i spent some time to fiddle around a bit with the
“geektool”.
After researching a bit about shell programming and
reviewing a lot of scripts and examples i wrote some for myself.
With a good looking wallpaper and the script collection in place this is the result (for now).
